Just
as we're fond of Japanese Cartoons, our club also collects "Manga"
or Japanese Comics. Personally, I collect manga because of the
art: the sheer detail of some pages usually blow me away! In contrast,
there may be pages or panels where there's no background. Manga
artists also manage to blend serious panels with more cartoony
ones. And the LINES!!! Those awesome speed lines that are found
in most "action panels". Even though I don't speak a
word of Japanese (save the occassional phrase or two) and I don't
understand Kanji, Katakana, or Hiragana; I'm still able to enjoy
the story and the art (or at least, what I understand of it),
which is a testament to the effectiveness of the manga artists'
storytelling ability.
